A balanced diet matters for our health. But what
does it actually mean to have a “balanced diet”?
A balanced diet
means that you are combining the right fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fibre in order to
obtain all of the nutrients you need for good health. By eating the
correct combination, and not too much or too little of anything, you will give
your body the right fuel to grow, replenish, repair and strengthen.
WHY DO WE HAVE TO
BALANCE OUR DIET?
When we
eat "acid - forming foods", our body brings our blood pH back
into balance by releasing alkaline rich minerals such as calcium,
phosphorus and magnesium into our bloodstream. If we are eating enough
"alkaline-forming foods" each day, then our body has easy access to
these minerals from our diet.
If we are
not eating enough alkaline-forming foods, then our body has to pull these
important minerals from our bones, teeth and organs. This can compromise our
immune system, cause fatigue and make us vulnerable to viruses and disease.
Eat a
diet of 60-80% alkaline-forming foods and 20-40% acid-forming foods.
Please
don't make our body working so hard to make a balance, and help ourselves with
eating more alkaline foods for now on.
